The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc.'s mission is to provide a safe haven for stray or unwanted animals, to foster the human-animal bond, to promote responsible pet ownership and to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter.

Donations & Memberships

The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc. helps hundreds of animals each year. Without your support, these animals wouldn't have a place to go.

HSBC accepts monetary donations, but there are several other ways to help out! Check out our donations tab to learn more.

Lost & Found

Losing a pet is scary and could happen to anyone.

If you've lost your pet, please contact the shelter directly to file a report and inquire about any strays we may have. Also, visit our Facebook page for the most up-to-date photos of animals that may have been brought to the shelter.

Adopt

Find your new, furry family member at the HSBC! We provide adoptions for both cats and dogs. All interested adopters should fill out our pre-application and submit for review.

Volunteer

The Humane Society of Burnett County is always seeking volunteers to help us accomplish our mission.  There are quite a few volunteering opportunities available to fit your time and skill set. Orientation and training is provided at the shelter.

Featured Pets!

Hi! My name is Jasper!

Jasper is a 2-year-old young fellow and was one of the two dogs that came in on Christmas Eve with a face full of porcupine quills.  Jasper is just the sweetest gentlemen with wonderful manners. He loves hugs, walks well on a leash, keeps his area very clean, and is potty trained!   Jasper knows basic commands, gets along with other dogs, and doesn’t seem like he minds cats! He enjoys some exercise and running his short legs off but is all about taking a nap and snuggling with your arms around him.  He’s an awesome dog!

Hi! Our names are Joey & Dawn!

Joey (black) and Dawn (white) will be 7-month-old kittens soon.  They have become quite a cuddly pair, and as you can see, are comfortable with each other.  These two have been in our care since they were only a couple weeks old, and they are still waiting for a place to call home.  They are good with other cats, but both are a little nervous being around dogs.

Joey is a playful kitty, and loves to be entertained, but has his usual down time when it comes to midday, or after meals, when he takes his naps.

Dawn is a naturally shy girl. She loves her independence, but on the random occasion she is interested in playing, it’s usually with some new toys, feathers or stickies you hang off of windows.  All kittens benefit from having a play mate.
