HSBC accepts monetary donations, but there are several other ways to help out! Click to learn more.

Lost & Found

Losing a pet is scary and could happen to anyone.

If you've lost your pet, please check our Lost & Found page often, and be sure to reach out and let us know if we should be on the lookout.

Find your new, furry family member at the HSBC! We provide adoptions for both cats and dogs. All interested adopters should fill out our pre-application and submit for review.

Check out the Live Feed from the Community Cat Room on the Cat Adoption Page.

The Humane Society of Burnett County is always seeking volunteers to help us accomplish our mission.  There are quite a few volunteering opportunities available to fit your time and skill set. Orientation and training is provided at the shelter.

Hi! My name is Louie!!

Hi - my name is Louie and I am a very sweet young lad wanting to find someone to love and a safe home. I weigh in at 36 pounds so not that big, can be a little shy at first but am told I am a friendly boy. Sending out good wishes and dreams for a forever home and a family of my own.

Hi! My name is Marion!

Marion is a gorgeous tortoiseshell shorthair who weighs in at a petite seven-pounds and is one-year-old. Marion came to HSBC as a young mother, and now that her kitten-rearing days are behind her, she would enjoy quiet time in a new household. This sweet girl loves people of all ages and is good with other cats. While she loves a good cuddle, Marion is also a big fan of chasing lights across the floor. She would enjoy meeting you!

Cody (Odin)

July 7, 2018

It was exactly three years ago today that I adopted Odin, a lively lab mix, from your shelter. His name has changed to Cody, and he is my shadow. I couldn’t be more pleased with my choice, or love him more than I do. I can’t tell you how many times I have been complimented on him, as he really is a good dog. Most people are amazed that he was a shelter dog, as he is extremely well behaved, even tempered, and lovable. They tell me how lucky I was to get such a good dog, and I agree...

Katie (Katrina)

June 14, 2018

KATIE (KATRINA) I had a very pleasant conversation with the person (Barbara) who adopted Katie. She told me that Katie is doing real well. Katie is trained to go downstairs around 10-10:30 p.m. every night and is let up after 6:00 a.m. the next day. Otherwise, Katie has been known to eat the dog’s food. Poor Lucy (their dog) doesn’t do anything about it, but then wasn’t getting her full meals while Katie was getting fatter. When Barbara first got Katie, she noticed that Katie had terrible gas and couldn’t figure out why it was so bad. They now think...

Ellie (Katniss)

June 14, 2018

ELLIE (KATNISS) Ellie (aka Katniss) is adjusting quite well to her new family. She loves to show us how smart she is and knows that she needs to wash her feet in a tray of water before coming back in the house (so cute how she steps in and looks up at me for guidance). Here is a pic of her and her new sister enjoying their deer antlers.

Mortie (Tim)

May 29, 2018

Mortie (Formerly Tim) is doing fantastic. He has been a wonderful, easy going, happy dog, who likes to play at the dog park, snuggle on the couch, and make new friends. He’s a very fast learner, especially if food is involved. He just passed his canine good citizen test, and we are looking forward to doing more obedience with him so that he can volunteer as a therapy dog. Everywhere we bring him people want to say hello, and he has learned to be very polite and sit for petting. He also snores and sleeps with his tongue sticking out!...

Sonora “Nora” Tipper

May 29, 2018

SONORA “NORA” (TIPPER) We fell in love with “Tipper” the first time I saw her on the site and immediately wrote – and called! – to find out about her.  We have renamed her Sonora (Nora).  She joined us a short time after we had adopted another rescue (Christina) from a private party and while we were thrilled with that kitten, we just felt like “someone was missing” so when we were approved for “Tipper” it was the end of our heart-search.   She is so funny!  While Christina was mellow and seldom got into things she shouldn’t, Nora arrived and began to...
