The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc.'s mission is to provide a safe haven for stray or unwanted animals, to foster the human-animal bond, to promote responsible pet ownership and to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter.

Donations & Memberships

The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc. helps hundreds of animals each year. Without your support, these animals wouldn't have a place to go.

HSBC accepts monetary donations, but there are several other ways to help out! Click to learn more.

Lost & Found

Losing a pet is scary and could happen to anyone.

If you've lost your pet, please check our Lost & Found page often, and be sure to reach out and let us know if we should be on the lookout.

Adopt

Find your new, furry family member at the HSBC! We provide adoptions for both cats and dogs. All interested adopters should fill out our pre-application and submit for review.

Check out the Live Feed from the Community Cat Room on the Cat Adoption Page.

Volunteer

The Humane Society of Burnett County is always seeking volunteers to help us accomplish our mission.  There are quite a few volunteering opportunities available to fit your time and skill set. Orientation and training is provided at the shelter.

Hi! My name is Louie!!

Hi - my name is Louie and I am a very sweet young lad wanting to find someone to love and a safe home. I weigh in at 36 pounds so not that big, can be a little shy at first but am told I am a friendly boy. Sending out good wishes and dreams for a forever home and a family of my own.

Hi! My name is Marion!

Marion is a gorgeous tortoiseshell shorthair who weighs in at a petite seven-pounds and is one-year-old. Marion came to HSBC as a young mother, and now that her kitten-rearing days are behind her, she would enjoy quiet time in a new household. This sweet girl loves people of all ages and is good with other cats. While she loves a good cuddle, Marion is also a big fan of chasing lights across the floor. She would enjoy meeting you!

Artemis (Reba)

January 29, 2017

Thank you for the follow up message. I had planned to call again this coming week with another update, but e-mail is even better because I work overnights and I don’t always remember to call during business hours. Reba is now known as Artemis. She is fitting in well in our household; with Kyle and I, with Kyle’s dog Kane and with our cats, birds and reptiles. Although her progress is slow, we can tell that she is moving forward with a lot of different issues… some we expected and others we had no way to anticipate. Her triggers are...

Glinda

January 28, 2017

I spoke to Glinda’s new mommy and she told me that Glinda is a very spoiled girl. She doesn’t want to be picked up unless it’s her idea. Glinda sits and cuddles in the chair with her owner and sleeps with her at night. She’s doing super! These are Glinda’s new owner’s words: “She kinda saved me. I lost my husband in July. I had a little dog and both her knees went out and I had to put her down. Needless to say, this apartment was very, very quiet. When I got her, that came to hault. When the...

Maggie (Brenna)

January 28, 2017

Maggie formerly Brenna settled in nicely and has claimed a spot in our couch. We have been working with her on some training, like sit, come, going to her kennel, and for her to “tell” us when she needs to go out. She is very affectionate and doesn’t like when we stop petting her. She loves running around outside in her new big spacious yard. And our cat Sabrina is starting to tolerate her and her playfulness!

Same & Dean (Twix & Spook)

January 10, 2017

The kittens are doing great! They are extremely affectionate, playful, and into anything and everything they can bat around or climb on. We’ve renamed them Sam (Twix) and Dean (Spook). Catching them while they’re not in motion long enough to take pictures is very challenging! Thank you for following up and for all you do at the shelter!

Sylvia

January 10, 2017

Hi Pam – Sylvia is fitting in just fine. Each day she is feeling more and more comfortable being with us – and our 4 year old cat Goldie. Goldie is also getting used to being the “older” cat and has become a little more playful. I put a picture and story on my FB page – I will try to forward or share it with you – feel free to use it. I have never tried to send a FB page before (I’m low tech) so if you don’t get it – let me know and we can see...
