The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc.'s mission is to provide a safe haven for stray or unwanted animals, to foster the human-animal bond, to promote responsible pet ownership and to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter.

The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc. helps hundreds of animals each year. Without your support, these animals wouldn't have a place to go.

HSBC accepts monetary donations, but there are several other ways to help us raise money that are of little to no cost to you! Click to learn more.

Lost & Found

Losing a pet is scary and could happen to anyone.

If you've lost your pet, please check our Lost & Found page often, and be sure to reach out and let us know if we should be on the lookout.

Find your new, furry family member at the HSBC! We provide adoptions for both cats and dogs. All interested adopters should fill out our pre-application and submit for review.

Check out the Live Feed from the Community Cat Room on the Cat Adoption Page

The Humane Society of Burnett County is always seeking volunteers to help us accomplish our mission. All volunteers go through orientation. There are quite a few volunteering opportunities available to fit your time and skill set.

Hi! My name is Hazel.

Hazel is a beautiful year-old gal that was surrendered to the shelter on May 30th with her older kitten Duckie.  We soon found that she was pregnant, but sadly her babies did not survive and Hazel literally mourned their loss.  She is a wonderful and gentle kitty that loves attention and would happily curl up with you.  This little girl deserves a home of her own and someone to love her.

Hi! I'm Jax.

Jax is a surrender to the shelter and it was a sad day when he parted ways with his owner as clearly, he was loved.  Jax is a friendly boy but can get a little grumpy at times.  He is very smart and quick to learn, he just needs some direction and consistency in his life.  A fenced yard is a must and we do recommend  no small children.  Jax is deserving of a new start to life in a new home.

Here are some things we could use:

  • Laundry detergent
  • Bleach
  • Bleach wipes
  • Creamy Peanut Butter
  • Cat & Kitten Toys
  • KMR for Kittens

Since 2000 the Humane Society of Burnett County has had a DREAM of a well designed, staff and energy efficient facility to allow us to fulfill our goals to RESCUE the unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats of  Burnett County, to REUNITE lost pets with their humans, to REHOME rescued dogs and cats in new adoptive and foster homes and to help our community RETHINK about pet ownership through programs like spay and neuter clinics, educational programming and community outreach.

For 18 years HSBC has been doing a pretty good job of accomplishing these goals out of our current shelter on Midtown Road, Siren. But the compound of temporary buildings, which sit on county-owned land, is very energy and staff inefficient and frequent repairs to the buildings and systems are draining our limited resources. Thanks to the vision and generosity of many the DREAM of a new facility is about to become a REALITY.  The Peggy Schilling Animal Adoption and Education Center at 7410 County Road D, Webster will double HSBC’s capacity to RESCUE, REUNITE, REHOME and RETHINK! Located on 22 acres of land, the 7,200 square foot former manufacturing building was purchased by HSBC in December 2017.  It is easily accessed from County Road D and SR 35, has great visibility and makes use of a building that has sat unused for years. The interior renovations are scheduled to begin late summer and be completed and be “move in ready” in winter 2018/2019.

Funding for the renovation of the new facility will be largely funded by a significant donation from Hugh Schilling in honor of his late wife Peggy Schilling – a great lover of animals and education. Mr. Schilling’s donation gets HSBC close to the finish line but now we need support from our community – full time and seasonal residents, businesses, any one who recognizes HSBC’s goals of RESCUE, REUNITE, REHOME and RETHINK are essential to the quality of life in Burnett County.

Your support of the DREAM to REALITY fundraising campaign is vital and all donations, no matter the size, are greatly appreciated and will be recognized. Naming and Memorial opportunities are being developed. You’ve been part of the DREAM and now we really hope you will be part of the REALITY.  For more information about Naming and Memorial opportunities please email or call 715-866-4096. Donations can be made through this website or by mail to 7347 Midtown Road, Siren 54872.

Hello, My name is Torrie, and my fiancé, David, and I, love our new addition to the family! We adopted the kitten Moo, aptly named for her unique black and white markings. She loves to run around the living room, batting and balls and catnip toys. Her favorite toy is the feather wand, and she…

Tina (Riley)

We adopted Riley but changed her name to Tina. From the first day we brought her home, she acted like this has always been her home. She is trained in the basics and fits in with our 2 cats even though 1 of them does not really appreciate Tina being here. They do respect each…

Hi Pam. Thank you for the email. Moloy is doing great. He’s finding his own comfortable place here. He has a loving personality, is a quick learner and is adjusting to his new home nicely. We’ve discovered that he loves to play in water and has a lot of fun with the garden hose too!…

Hello! This is Syren, formerly known as Charlotte. I adopted a new owner just over a month ago and things are going quite well. Every morning, I take my new owner for a long walk. She needs to get out or she gets restless. She does pretty well on the leash but it would be…
