The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc.'s mission is to provide a safe haven for stray or unwanted animals, to foster the human-animal bond, to promote responsible pet ownership and to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter.

Donations & Memberships

The Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc. helps hundreds of animals each year. Without your support, these animals wouldn't have a place to go.

HSBC accepts monetary donations, but there are several other ways to help out! Check out our donations tab to learn more.

Lost & Found

Losing a pet is scary and could happen to anyone.

If you've lost your pet, please contact the shelter directly to file a report and inquire about any strays we may have. Also, visit our Facebook page for the most up-to-date photos of animals that may have been brought to the shelter.

Adopt

Find your new, furry family member at the HSBC! We provide adoptions for both cats and dogs. All interested adopters should fill out our pre-application and submit for review.

Volunteer

The Humane Society of Burnett County is always seeking volunteers to help us accomplish our mission.  There are quite a few volunteering opportunities available to fit your time and skill set. Orientation and training is provided at the shelter.

Featured Pets!

Hi, my name is Gracie!

Miss Gracie is a petite (muscle builder) that came into the shelter as a surrender, along with her puppies.  She is an alpha female, so she needs to be the only female dog in the household but gets along with most males.   Gracie does not like cats, so no cats in the house. She loves to play with toys, and she is more than willing to go out for a run or brisk walk with you, too! She is working on leash etiquette but does VERY well on a harness! When she’s ready to come inside and relax, she loves her soft blankets to snuggle up in. (Or your lap if it’s available).  Gracie takes treats so gently and gives you the sweetest little kisses. Gracie has been in our care for too long (over 180 days). She is a gem and gets overlooked too often.  She is a very loyal, loving and accepting young lady!

Hi! My name is Jack!

Jack turned 1 in December 2023 - he is a very shy guy looking for a new home! He came to the shelter as a stray with his friend Colby who has since been adopted. Jack has always been timid around strangers, but he is gaining trust in people a little bit more each day.  He's a handsome boy with a very distinguished face and cute little socks to match! He gets along great with other cats and is definitely curious about dogs.  He doesn't care for loud or abrupt noises so a quieter home with older kids and feline friends would be perfect. He'd be a great addition to a family looking for a loyal, loving companion, and someone to just “chill” with!
