Rule of Threes

Adapting to a new family, rules, and environment can take time for an adopted pet. Since every animal is unique, your pet may settle in faster or slower than what these general guidelines suggest.

3 Days

Moving can be tough on everyone, especially pets! Give your new companion at least three days to unwind after bringing them home. During this time, it’s best to avoid trips to pet stores and dog parks.

3 Weeks

After three weeks, most animals begin to settle in, and their true personalities start to emerge. You might observe some new behaviors, making this an ideal time to reach out to our adoption team if you need any assistance.

3 Months

Pets start to fit into your regular routine and tend to feel more secure during this timeframe.

Featured Animal of the Week

Let me introduce you to Snoop!!  This handsome and happy little guy was a stray that was never reclaimed so now he would love a forever home.  Snoop is a 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, weighs 39 pounds and is medium in size.  Being stray, we don’t know his background but what we do know is that he is a smart and well-mannered guy, if not a little excitable!!  Snoop would be a perfect companion for that lucky person who welcomes him into their home!

What it Means to Adopt

When you adopt a shelter companion, you change their life. Many of our shelter companions have been without a home, or surrendered, or even from unfortunate situations. You will provide a safe, loving home and make their world better.

Other benefits from adopting

  • Support the shelter to help more animals in need.
  • Adopt, not shop. Help reduce the number of unwanted animals.
  • The companion you adopt will be current on vaccines and will be spayed or neutered, helping combat pet over population.

I’m a firm believer in adoption and I think every creature deserves a second chance at love.
