The Humane Society of Burnett County encourages the participation of volunteers who support our mission: to provide a safe haven for stray or unwanted animals, to foster the human-animal bond, to promote responsible pet ownership, and to end pet overpopulation through spay/neuter.

For safety reasons, we ask that persons 15 and under be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian at all times.

“Community Service” Note: HSBC can accommodate service hours for high school students, Boy/Girl Scouts, and other similar youth organizations. Tracking of service hours is the responsibility of the volunteer. HSBC is unable to accommodate court-ordered or similar service.

I hereby agree to accept a position as a volunteer worker for the Humane Society of Burnett County, Inc. (HSBC), and in so doing, I agree to comply with all rules which may be established from time to time by HSBC, and I understand that failure to do so may result in my immediate termination as a volunteer. I acknowledge that my services are provided strictly on a volunteer basis, without pay or compensation of any kind, and without liability of any nature assumed by HSBC. All services performed by me are at my own risk. I recognize that in handling animals and performing other volunteer tasks, there exists a risk of injury, including physical harm, caused by the animals. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives and executors, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless HSBC, its agents, servants, and employees from any and all claims, causes of action, or demands of any nature of cause, including costs and attorney’s fees incurred by HSBC in connection with the same, based on damages or injuries which may be incurred or sustained by me in any way connected with my services for HSBC, including, but not limited to, animal bites, accidents or injuries. I understand that some matters discussed at HSBC may be of a confidential nature and agree not to discuss them with others. I further understand that as a volunteer at HSBC I am a representative of HSBC and agree to promote and present HSBC in a positive manner to the public.
