BRITNEY (VADA)

November 21, 2023

My 4.5 year old Lexi goes and hides from Britney and I, and I think she’s mad at me for bringing Britney into our family. Lexi doesn’t hiss at Britney anymore since I scolded her for doing so. She is starting to tolerate Britney so we are making progress. Lexi does avoid Britney and I have to sit them down together. Lexi will put her head down and squint her eyes but I’ll get her to open them petting her and telling her it’s alright, but I still don’t want to leave them alone together yet. That’s why I got Britney her large house (kennel) which I modified with wood and carpet. She has a snuggle bed, litter box, food and water dishes attached to the wall and it’s 4 levels. She’s not in there all the time, just when she’s sleeping or wore out from playing and exploring.

Any suggestions on getting Lexi to bond with Britney? Lexi will sleep on my bed with me but I have to go get her and at times I can tell she’s reluctant so I’m sure she’s mad at me for getting Britney. I really got Britney for Lexi so she would have a friend to play with. Could it be because Britney is another female or that Britney isn’t fixed yet? Lexi seems to be fine watching through the sliding door at the stray male cats that are on my deck, they never come inside and are never in contact with Lexi. Those strays only come around for food. I don’t feed them all the time only when they are very hungry. There’s two males: one can be gone for days; the other one I’m thinking lives under my deck.

Anyways and suggestions on getting Lexi to bond with Britney? And to get Lexi out of her pouty mood?

She wouldn’t eat for a good week after I got Britney, she’s over weight so she has plenty in reserve. Lexi is eating now.
