GLADYS (PICKLES)

April 11, 2026

Thank you for asking about Pickles. Her name is Gladys now and after these past six weeks, I feel like she truly feels at home with us.

Gladys is quite a bit older than our other three little girls, so she’s not as rambunctious. She loves to sit in our laps. We have learned this is so she can make sure we know we should be petting her. Gladys also uses her voice to remind us when it’s time to do this, MANY times a day. If we stop petting her before she’s ready, she’ll remind us to keep going by using her paws to guide our hands back to her. While some may label her demanding, we consider it an honor to shower Gladys with the love and affection she deserves.

It took some time for the others to accept her, with the most dramatic times being when they were being fed. We have one that’s a bit possessive of the food dishes. (Yes, ALL of the food dishes, lol, but we’re working on that.) One by one, the younger three cats formed their own relationships with Gladys. Now she runs around and plays with the others, which I think helps to keep her active and healthy. After a while she tires out and comes back to one of our laps, while the others keep going.

She’s the perfect blend between one of the energetic mischievous chaos queens and a sweet quiet snuggly little old lady.
