I am sorry for the delay in following up with comments about Nico. Just a busy spring.

Nico has brought so much joy into my life, which is exactly what I was looking for in a rescue. He is very sweet and loving. When meeting a new person he seems a bit aggressive with barking, but I believe this is all show. My brother and sister-in-law, whom he had never met, stayed at my house last weekend. Nico showed this behavior when they opened my back door but, with treats in hand, Nico became their best buddy!

His records show that he is an Old English Sheepdog mix. I questioned this and recently found this app, “What KInd of Dog is This” where you can post a picture. When I did this the answer was Portuguese Water Dog which is a breed I have always been interested in. Amazing! When you do look at pics of this breed, Nico’s face and markings absolutely do match the breed. Will have to get down to Lake Superior and see how he does with water.

I appreciate the fact that his previous owner did some training with him. We are working on heeling and not pulling on the leash. I know some of the basics from having previous dogs go through training. I would like to get him in a group situation where he experiences other dogs. That will come in time.

I am sending a few pictures. The card was from my vet with whom I have a long history. Nico and I went to a “meet and greet” at the office and he got heartworm meds and lyme disease vaccination. He is a very gentle warrior when it comes to examinations, vaccinations and nail clipping. The picture in my backyard shows Nico on chipmunk patrol (hasn’t caught any yet)!  All in all I truly appreciate your contact and am extremely happy with this adoption of my best and forever buddy.
