Adopted Name: Locke, Shepard Mix
New Name: Scoob, Pitty/Great Dane Mix
Scoob is an affectionate snuggle bug. He always wants to be next to his humans and has shown some signs of separation anxiety, which we are working on with a whole lot of love and patience. He thinks he is a small boy, and that if he can get his butt onto your lap – that is where it belongs. Ultimately, as long as he has physical contact with someone, he’s a happy boy. He is a fast learner and a gentle soul to other animals and humans that he meets. He loves to visit the local Pup North Pet Lodge where he has made many dog friends that play and play for hours at a time, leaving him too pooped even for his daily walk for sometimes 2 days in a row! We’ve only been to the dog park one time, and no dogs were around – our understanding is that it is more so used during the summer so more to come on that. He went for his first full spa treatment, and we learned he complains a little when getting his face washed and also turns into a wiggle worm when getting his nails trimmed. But he LOVES the massage part of getting shampooed and his favorite is getting his butt brushed and his groomer (my sister in law) said even though he complains a little it is not in an aggressive or intimidating manner. He likes to wear clothes which will be a great thing for him when it gets to be 40 below up here!!
Scoob had a DNA test done and we learned he is:
Guard Dog:
55% American Staffordshire Terrier
14% Great Dane
Herding Dog:
11% White Swiss Shepard
2% German Shepard
Sporting Dog:
5% Vizsla
1%German Rough Haired Pointer
1% English Cocker Spaniel
African Dog:
7% Rhodesian Ridgeback
Mountain Dog:
3% Landseer

Scoob has already left paw prints on our hearts and we can’t wait to learn more about him as he grows. Once he is completely settled in and knows this is his home for the long run, we will consider getting him a female companion to complete our family. Thank you so much to the HSBC for rescuing Scoob from Texas and ultimately putting him in our lives! We couldn’t be more grateful.
