So this is Kimberly from the shelter and I adopted Tricky and Sassy. They came to the shelter as strays and they were somewhat feral. When Hailey and I did their intakes, they hissed and scratched and bit at us, particularly Sassy. That’s how they got their names; Hailey named Tricky because he was tricky in his maneuvers to get away from us and I named Sassy sassy because she had attitude. They were at the shelter for awhile and the kennel techs couldn’t really handle them. The board contemplated what to do with them because they couldn’t really be adopted as they were. I decided I loved them and wanted them so I approached the board and I was able to adopt them. I initially kept them in a kennel and spent time talking to them and getting them used to me putting my hands in the kennel. At first I had to wear gloves to keep from getting tore up. Over time, they would let me pet them. Tricky came around first. Sassy took quite a bit longer. But I was patient and persistent and now both of them trust me and allow me to pet and hold them. They no longer live in a kennel. Once in a while they still hide if I walk in the room, but not usually.
We have brought a third cat into our home too, but that’s another adoption story. All three cats are doing well and I just love them!!!
