NANCY
November 15, 2024
Hi HSBC it’s Nancy (I’m still Nancy).
Sorry it has taken me so long to check in with you. I have been very busy here at my new house and have so much to tell you.
I am the property manager here and I have a lot to do. I am getting two walks a day to check on all the activity on our different routes, sometimes we have to turn around early because I have been so busy noticing the daily activity that our mileage goes down. My favorite walks are when I thrush a turkey or pheasant. There are a lot of turkey’s around here. My favorite walk is through the fields so that I don’t have to be on a leash and can do more investigation. The field has a sandhill crane family and lots of geese, so I get my exercise.
My property manager duties include getting rid of the critters that think they can squat on the farm. I have successfully evicted Wilma the woodchuck and at least one of her children. I have included a picture of my cat brother Hemi (we call him Chonk) and I’m working to get rid of some noisy chipmunks. They are much more vocal and difficult to evict than the woodchucks. I am not too happy about the deer in the yard, but mom says they can visit. This last week I have made contact with a new property nuisance. It is black and white and I really stink after I chased it out of the yard. Needless to say I had to take a bath and didn’t get my morning walk before mom went to work. Later in the week I found another one of those black and white critters in the ditch. I got that one right in the eyeballs, I thought it was a turkey. Not 12 hours later, there was one in my favorite field. I have learned to stay away from their tails, but mom says I may be the only dog that has been sprayed 3xs in a week, and twice in 12 hours. BTW, I DON’T like baths, mom hopes I have learned my lesson and stay away from them now.
When I first moved here I got a lot of baths because I liked to visit the horses while mom was busy mowing the lawn. I really liked rolling in horse poop too, but that led to baths, so I have gotten over that fascination. I got to spend the weekend with my human grandparents a few weeks ago. I like spending time there, but I don’t get as much exercise there because I chased my grandma’s goose, Krystel and caught her. Now I have to be on my leash when I go outside. Krystal is fine by the way. I hang out with my grandma’s dog Stubby while I am at their house. He is a lot of fun and puts up with my puppy energy.
Besides property management I am busy playing fetch, meeting family members and neighbors (there are 3 human Nancy neighbors). I am being the goodest girl, but mom says I’m “a lot” sometimes. I am crate trained and love taking my naps in my personal space (NO CATS ALLOWED). I am not too fond of car rides and get sick sometimes. I do a lot better if the windows are down and I get to stick my nose out. We go walking on trails away from home sometimes and I go to Grandma’s to visit a lot. Thanks for checking on me.
