JIMMY (SCOOBY)
We adopted Scooby (now Jimmy) about a month ago. I specifically decided...

Since retiring, I don’t keep up on my e-mails daily like I probably should so sorry on late response. Maggie is doing quite well and is settling in nicely. My wife absolutely adores her as she reminds her of a favorite German Shepard she had years ago named Chico. I think at first it was overwhelming having fenced in acreage to run as she never slowed down running fence line to fence line – that dog can run like a greyhound. The good news for Maggie is that there are more woods to explore as I was keeping our walks near the house because deer hunting started shortly after she arrived. She is really a big fan of the dog door and is still trying to figure out her relationship with the horse. Maggie has tried to share her frisbee and chew toys but no luck getting the horse to toss anything back. We are currently working on the barking as she is always so alert that she will suddenly break out barking from just chilling out in her chair. Turn on the yard light and sure enough there will be deer in the yard so it’s hard to fault her. Currently working on convincing her it is better to not announce herself and sneak out the dog door before chasing them off. With a new sheriff in town have a good feeling that next summer’s garden is not going to be treated like a salad buffet for the rabbits and deer.
We can see that Maggie may not be a perfect fit for everyone but she is for us. She is so sweet and works so hard to please that it is impossible not to love her. I never was an early morning person working 2nd & 3rd shifts all my life and Maggie is definitely a 1st shifter. I think if I wasn’t retired, I would be good to go for dayshift now that she is getting me up at first light. I guess training is going on in both directions. I don’t see Maggie returning to HSBC unless it is for a playdate.
Maggie wants to thank you for taking such good care of her. Included a photo of Maggie in her favorite spot.
