Formerly Maverick, His new name is now Willy Walter. (Walter is just his middle name because all of my children, 2 legged or 4 legged, have middle names too. He is so perfect and fits into my pack perfectly! Larry, my Great Dane and Dog Alpha do very well with him unless Willy tries to eat his food, which Willy has learned really quickly is a big no no. My other dog Remington and Willy have a great playful connection. They both are very food and tennis ball motivated, so watching them chase after the same ball can be quite entertaining! Willy is the perfect mix of cuddly and playful. Cuddling, since he is over 100 pounds, can be a challenge at times. All 3 of the dogs need to be touching me when it’s time to go to bed. So with 300 pounds of dog, it can be a lot, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Willy’s favorite places are on the recliner or on our bed laying directly on the pillows. He also takes my shoes during the day when I’m gone during the work week. He doesn’t chew on them, he just brings them around with him and from what I have seen, he lays with them. (He misses me during the day which is awesome!) He doesn’t bark unless someone comes to the house, but he has done great with all strangers, and does amazing with my 7 and 8 year old niece and nephew, and usually goes the other direction if I am holding a cat. It is so important to give an older dog a chance! Don’t forget to look at the older dogs, the ones that may get looked over. The ones with a big bark, the ones who cower in the corner. They will not disappoint you!
