KOA (MAKO)

We love our puppy. We changed his name to Koa. He is a bit of a handful and we have done a lot of reading about the breed. He is great with people and other dogs. A bit excitable when meeting new people but always happy to greet them. Very focused on everything outside that is new. Any rodent is very exciting for him. We have been having turtles come out of our pond to lay eggs and he just doesn’t know what to think of them. No problem except for the very large snapping turtle that was laying her eggs in our front yard. We had to keep him away until she was done. We moved her eggs right away since we are going to have sod installed soon. There were 47 eggs. If moved quickly shouldn’t hurt the eggs. House breaking is going quite well. He has what we call poop valley in an area just off the yard and he goes there quite well. A few accidents, but not many. Have picked up the rugs for now since they can be a target. We got some tick spray from the Pet Store and a chewable from the Webster Vet. We will be taking him there in the future. He is losing his baby teeth. I must watch where I walk since I am a barefoot person and the teeth are sharp. We are already getting quite a selection of toys. He needs to chew all the time so have given him lots a choices other than the legs of furniture and we keep our shoes picked up! He has lots of area to roam but stays close enough so we are comfortable of his whereabouts. We don’t live close to a road so cars are not an issue. He is wary of cars. He sleeps with Craig every night and they have a routine in the morning to feed birds and take care of nature’s call. He loves belly rubs and always wants to know where his people are. We do have a case of the zoomies several times a day which is very funny. He is so cute, we just love him and know patience is necessary for success. He is very smart. Knows to sit and laydown on command. Is treat oriented which works well. Only feed him puppy food and a treat for motivation. Just the cutest thing and we love him very much. Thanks for checking.
