HERBIE AND OZZY

Thank you for following up with us about Herbie and Ozzy. Sorry for the wait – we are both teachers and life is quite busy right now.

We are really happy with both of these little guys. They are so sweet and very cuddly, which is something our current cat (Merlin) didn’t really like to do.

Herbie is adjusting well, getting into all sorts of trouble and forming a pretty strong bond with Merlin. It must be that tabby energy.

Ozzy is super sweet, and we knew we couldn’t leave him without a home any longer. He started sitting on our laps almost right away.

We did notice Ozzy wasn’t eating consistently, and his breath smelled kind of funny, so we made an appointment with our veterinarian. The vet did a pretty comprehensive check of him, and in addition to a case of severe dental disease, he was also diagnosed with a likely case of IMHA-based anemia. That was really shocking and sad, but at least it gave us some answers. Ozzy is on prednisone now, and while his appetite is not ideal, we have had success with Churus and boiled chicken. We are hoping that the prednisone begins to really kick in, but if that doesn’t happen we’ll explore what other medication options are available for him. He deserves the best and we are determined to do what we can for him, and we hope that if his liver gets under control we can get his teeth fixed up.

Both of these guys have really brightened our days, and we hope that theirs are brighter, too. We are really, really grateful that we brought them home.

I’m attaching a link here that you can use to see some photos. I didn’t share any pics of my wife or kids with them, because I haven’t asked their permission yet. When I get the OK, I’ll send some more.

Thank you so much for all that you did for Herbie and Ozzy, and for all the animals in your care.
