MOSES/MO/MOSEY (MO)

Hello Pamela – Mo is doing great. We did ‘officially’ name him Moses, but Mo and Mosey are also used! I think he had it a bit rough, coming into a home with a less than friendly older kitty. I had adopted Lily from the same shelter almost a year ago (in May) and she’s a little older, about 2.5 years. She wasn’t thrilled to become a big sister. I hoped she was young enough to still accept a new kitty – as I have made the mistake of bringing a kitten in with an older cat, and that didn’t work! The kitten would overwhelm them.

Mo has overwhelmed Lily, but he is also respectful. He shows that he knows his place in the pecking order. It was about two weeks before we caught them touching noses, which I’ve read is a good sign. I did put a pheromone diffuser in the main room they would share and that seemed to take the edge off. There were some litter box issues, but I put that down to stress and introducing a new food. They don’t sleep near one another, but they do play a bit. And it takes a bit more for Lily to growl. She was quite quick to show displeasure earlier!

He also had a hard time adjusting. I think in the kitten room there were no boundaries and everyone could get along and be near each other. I think it was hard for him to understand boundaries with Lily! But, as I’ve mentioned, he was very quick to humble himself. I think they just get it! He’s so smart! He just this week figured out the cat door into the porch area. It was a place Lily could have to herself, but Mo kept watching her and finally figured it out.

Sorry I wrote a book! My husband’s been out of town and I haven’t been able to share the kitty chronicles with him! Mo’s still got a loud purr and is affectionate and I’m sure in love with them both!
